What are the Book Awards

Independent Publisher Book Awards

For books with 2011 and 2012 copyrights or that are released in 2011 or early 2012.

Now in its thirteenth year, the Independent Publisher Book Awards are conducted annually to honor the year's best independently published titles. The "IPPY" Awards
reward those who exhibit the courage, innovation, and creativity to bring about change in the world of publishing. Independent spirit and expertise comes from
publishers of all sizes and budgets, and books are judged with that in mind.

All independent, university, small press, and self-publishers who produce books intended for the North American market are eligible to enter titles copyrighted or
released with in the year. Independent authors using print-on-demand publishing services are welcome to enter their books themselves.

The "IPPY" Awards were conceived as a broad-based, unaffiliated awards program open to all members of the independent publishing industry, and are open to
authors and publishers worldwide who produce books written in English and intended for the North American market. We define "independent" as 1) independently
owned and operated; 2) operated by a foundation or university; or 3) long-time independents that became incorporated but operate autonomously and publish fewer
than 50 titles a year.

The Independent Book Awards offer entrants incredible benefits including a springboard toward increased recognition and sales along with sustainable credibility
within the ever-growing marketplace. Winners receive gold, silver and bronze medals, certificates, and matching foil seals to display on their covers.

Publishers / Authors are able to submit their books for nominations with the copyright years from 2011/ 2012   -  and the books and awards are presented at the New
York City, New York, BookExpo America on June 5 - 8, 2012

books.

A notice from Our Distributor:
Selling your book through our distribution channels

Baker & Taylor (B&T) is one of our distribution partners and is a primary supplier to libraries. B&T distributes books, calendars,
music, and DVDs to schools and both public and specialty libraries worldwide.

LSI submits its title metadata to B&T along to all of our distributors. At Ingram Book Company (IBC) and Amazon, Barnes &
Noble and all of our title info is picked up, where the audience is, the general consumer. Since B&T targets libraries they will, on
occasion, elect not to carry a specific title-- regardless of the printer or publisher -- if they feel it won't generate interest from their
target audience.

LSI cannot *make* B&T or any of our distributors carry a title.
It is completely at the discretion of the book buyers at these
Main Home Offices
. While a title setup at LSI should be on B&T or any of our distributor sites, we cannot *guarantee* it will be.
